Biography

Kupka was started by Erkin Gören and Berkan Tunçludemir with the name of Monera in 1998 in İstanbul. They started off with covering bands such as 59 Times the Pain, Ten Foot Pole, No Use For A Name. Not much later, they started making their own songs and played in numerous venues such as Kemancı Rock Bar, Peyote, 3L, Bronx and many more, including school festivals.

The band gained a new form with Cenk Akkaya joining with the drums in 2002, changed its name to Mould, and the members recorded their first LP, consisting of five of their own songs. During this time, they were influenced by indie/post rock bands like Karate, Pinback, Sea, Cake and went for a heavily instrumental music. Kupka, after recording “Uyk La” in 2005, an LP with eight of their songs , continued their concerts.

Since year 2009, Kupka continues its music as a duo. In 2010, Erkin Gören and Berkan Tunçludemir recorded their third LP called Sons Onz which includes 5 new tracks.
